Maalaus kuuluu sarjaan Taidehistorian naiskuvia, johon ensimmäiset teokset valmistuivat vuoden 2012 puolella ja viimeisimmät vuonna 2013. Sarjan lähtökohtana ovat toimineet 1600-1800-lukujen taiteen naisten muotokuvat, joskin toteutus heijastaa mieltymystäni abstraktiin ekspressionismiin ja pop-taiteeseen. Punahattuinen tyttö perustuu, hyvin vapaasti tulkiten, Johannes Vermeerin samannimiseen teokseen vuosilta 1665-1666.

Sarjan teoksia on nähtävissä Sipoossa Taidekeskus Gumbostrand Konst & Form'n kesänäyttelyssä Sommar i Gumbostrand 5.7.-1.9.2013.

The painting belongs to the series Images of Women in Art History. The first paintings date from 2012 and the latest from 2013. The starting point for the series was the female portrait painting in the 17th, 18th and the 19th centuries' although the realisation of my own paintings reflects my taste for abstract expressionism and pop-art. Girl with a Red Hat is very freely based on Johannes Vermeer's artwork with the same title from 1665 to 1666.

Paintings from the series can be seen in Sibbo at the Art Center Gumbostrand Konst & Form's summer exhibition Sommar i Gumbostrand 5.7.-1.9.2013.
