Teos kuuluu 42-osaiseen sarjaan Aesthetics and the Artist (2012-2019). Sarjan teokset on toteuttu Thomas Munron estetiikkaa ja taidekritiikkiä käsittelevän esseekokoelman Toward Science in Aesthetics, 1956 [1928] sivuille.
Sarja koostuu joko uudelleentulkinnoista aiemmasta tuotannostani tai toisinnoista esteettisesti mielenkiintoisiksi kokemistani taidehistoriallisista maalauksista, arkkitehtuuripiirroksista ja mm. teknisistä malleista. Sarjan muihinkin teoksiin voi tutustua Gallerian albumissa Teoksia kirjansivuille.
Yllä oleva teokseni perustuu ranskalaisen taiteilijan Nicolas Poussinin maalaukseen Echo and Narcissus (1628-30). Antiikin Kreikan mytologian tarina Nymfistä (kreik. Ekho) ja Narkissoksesta on ollut kuvataiteessakin suosittu aihe.
Sarjan teoksia on mukana Wiurilan Kesän näyttelyssä Tuntematon aika Wiurilan kartanossa, Halikossa, Salossa 14.6.-25.8.2019.

The artwork belongs to a series of 42 drawings and paintings titled Aesthetics and the Artist
(2011-2018). The works are drawn and painted on book pages of an essay collection on aesthetics and art critisism: Thomas Munro, Toward Science in Aesthetics, 1956 [1928].
The series consists of new interpretations based on my earlier production or variants of aesthetically interesting art historical paintings, architectural drawings or technical models. See more artwork photos at the gallery album Works on Book Pages.
My work above is is based on French artist Nicolas Poussin's painting Echo and Narcissus (1628-30). The story of Echo and Narcissus is one of the most known Greek Myths. It has inspired many painters in art history as well.
Artworks in the series will be shown at the Wiurila Summer Exhibition at Wiurila Manor in Halikko, Salo, Finland, June 14 to August 25, 2019.
