Sarjan maalausten teemat kumpuavat kuvataiteen ja kuvatyyppien historiasta. Kauden teos Selityksiä XXVII liittyy abstraktin ekspressionismin työskentelytapaan, värinkäyttöön ja materiaalisuuteen. Maalausta voi katsoa myös abstrahoituna maisemana.

The painting is one of the series Explanations begun in 2011. All the artworks in the series can be seen in the Web Gallery album Maalauksia kankaalle sarjasta Selityksiä | Paintings on canvas from the series Explanations (2011-2017).

The idea of the series arise from the art history and from the iconographic picture types. The Season's Artwork Explanations XXVII refers to the the way of creating art, the colour use and the materiality of the art movement called Abstract Expressionism. The painting can be seen as a kind of a semi-abstract landscape, as well.
